Damien decided that his career was going to be in music at a very young age. He began playing the clarinet and saxophone in the 4th grade. He played in several classical and jazz ensembles until high school when he joined the drum line.

Damien began playing guitar much in the same way he has learned several other instruments, simply by having them around. He confiscated his sisters guitar and a Lennon/McCartney song book that belonged to his father and was off and running. Damien’s formal musical education did not begin until college, where he studied percussion under Dr. Michael Carney at CSULB. Here he learned marimba, vibraphone, steel drums, and an assortment of African and Brazilian instruments.

In addition to playing guitar and singing in TRIPTIC, Damien has played in various other projects including The Magic Bullet Theory (drums), Corday (lead guitar), 3Sum (drums), the Bluesmiths (guitar), Crea (drums/guitar) and Resounding Grace (drums/bass). Damien has appeared on television shows such as Soul Train, and has been featured on numerous recordings and independent film scores.

His influences include Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Soundgarden, Tori Amos, the Beatles, STP, Alice in Chains, Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, and Speaker.
